i wrote a little speech that helps me to not give in when the urge
to binge intrudes into my mind and i have to say no.
maybe it can help someone else here
what an urge feels like-
it is like someone standing over you with a gun
to your head giving you a choice question:
"why don't you binge right now?"
and if your answer is no, they threaten to shoot...
they plead and tempt,
"but this will be the last time, promise"
and you still say no, so they cock the pistol...
you are scared, distressed enough to give in...
you think about the relief that it will bring.
you think about the pistol being put down,
but only until the next time...
because they would know you give in easily.
so you say no.
"come on, you know you want to, think of how good it will feel"
and you think of the relief, but you know
your true self doesnt want it really.
and now they're getting mad...
because they know they can't shoot you.
they are a part of you, and they can distress you,
but they cannot make you act.
so there are more and more temptations, lies.
and more fear, more distress.
but they cannot force you to act,
and if you are strong enough, they have to give up.
and they learn,
they learn after a while that they cannot push you.
that you will not give in to threats or demands.
and then there is only one option.
to let you free.
