I just feel so good for quitting binge eating that I needed to write it down and share (even if no one reads it)! I've been binge eating for 16years, and was a 'secret eater' for even longer. My husband found out about it and kept putting the pressure on to stop, which just led me to becoming ever more depressed and helpless. I felt like it would be something that would break us apart, as I knew after trying everything there was no way out. I was even at the point where I thought I no longer wanted a way out. I thought I enjoyed and depended on it too much to turn away from it.
Then I read the book and haven't binged since. I realised first of all just how much was actually habit, as I binged every day but didn't get a proper urge when I attempting stopping for over a week. When I did get the urge, it almost got the better of me. I bought loads of chocolate, sat in the car and realised I didn't want it. I actually told myself I'd eat it later, but put it off so long I just ended up giving it to someone else!
Since applying Kathryn's method I've been able to establish a 'normal' approach to eating - something I never had before and never thought I would! I longed for a healthy attitude to food and I still can't believe I finally have that. I never would have believed I could eat a couple of biscuits and not only stop, but actually forget there is still a packet there!!! When I suddenly realise I've been around 'binge'' food I get such a high knowing it's not bothered me in the slightest. No anxiety, no fear. I just don't give food the time of day anymore. I hope to hear more success stories from others - good luck on your journey to normalness!
